Philippians 4:8

Finally brothers, Whatever is TRUE, whatever is NOBLE, whatever is RIGHT, whatever is PURE, whatever is LOVELY, whatever is ADMIRABLE, if anything is EXCELLENT or PRAISEWORTHY, Think about such things!-- Philippians 4:8

A rather Blusterous Fall Day

The weather kept us indoors again today. The winds and rains of a typical Michigan fall day surrounded us. Thanks to the roof above our heads, the learning continued. The students had several special opportunities today as they played their recorders in Music class. The students also had a wonderful opportunity to read to their preschool buddies for about 20 minutes this morning.
Bible- Today we looked at the last of the five heroes of faith that we have studied over the past two weeks. Joshua was the focus of our study today and we looked at ways in which he was strong and courageous and then we also thought about ways that people today can be strong and courageous. I played the song "Courageous", by Casting Crowns for the students to listen to because it resembles very well what the book of Joshua challenges us to do in our lives today. The students have their Bible Memory Quiz tomorrow; Hebrews 11:1-3.
Science- Our study of matter lasted the duration of the day. We began our investigation this morning determining how long it would take and at what temperature certain liquids would freeze. We checked our liquids every half hour so that we could keep up-to-date status on our liquids(or now turned solids) Some of the students have seen their liquid freeze into a solid already, others are hoping for a change overnight. Science Matter Unit 1 Test on Wednesday, Oct 25.
Literacy- We began Unit 3 in our Grammar studies today. We have begun to discuss Verbs and their importance and role in the English Language. The students also took some time to study suffixes with our main focus today being on the suffix 'ful' and what it means. We spent most of our writing times investigating our science and recording what we saw in our experimentation. Spelling Unit 6 Words and Skills Test Tomorrow.
Math- We had a shortened math session today in which we continued our multiplication activities. We took another Multiplication facts test as a way of practicing and building up towards a complete memorization of our Math facts. MB & SL 3.3 due tomorrow, Friday, October 21; MB & SL 3.4 due Monday, October 24.
